I've been training hard, mostly inside. I actually did a 40 mile outside ride this morning and got soaked but it was great. School is still tough but I generally still have enough time to squeeze in a late night trainer ride every day. I just got a set of Mavic Carbones on my TT bike. They look great but they were out of true so Rich has them at his shop right now. When I get them back I'll post a pic.

Trainer time again

It's that time of the year again to break out the trainer, dust it off and start sweatin' to the oldies. Oh what fun it is to ride......

Here's Alex racing toward the finish at the race earlier today. His fourth place finish overall was the best on our team with Mike finishing seventh and Nick finishing twelfth. Both Mike and Nick had an unfortunate incounter with a nest of wasps. I tried another MTB race today but after only about a mile my chain and derailure hanger cracked putting an early end to my second try at xc racing. Alex also finished first in his age group

First MTB race

I did my first MT bike race today. The plan was for me to lead out Nick to the trail and get him a big enough lead to be first on the trail and then he could destroy the field. It worked and he had a good lead and then his chain broke, twice! Nick ended up finishing 12th. As for me, I'm a terrible Mt biker but I finished and hope to improve, I know I can't get any worse.

Training blues

I don't know why but I'm at a real low right now with my training, both mentally and physically. I'm riding slower and it is really noticeable on climbs, which really worries me since I used to excel in this area. School is starting next week and I'll probably end up doing a lot more riding on the trainer since it will be too late to ride outside. Trainer riding may be just the thing I need to get back on schedule and on the right path back to form for the upcoming races in September.
